Springtime at Hogwarts

‘Twas springtime at Hogwarts, and all through the houses
Every creature was stirring, from rabbits to mouses.
The flowers were dancing in the sunlit fresh air
In hopes that the Easter Bunny soon would be there.

The witches and wizards on the edge of their seats,
With visions of honeydukes and other fine treats.
And everyone outside in this beautiful weather,
Had happiness and joy feeling light as a feather.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter
I sprang from my studies to see what was the matter,
Away to the courtyard I flew like a broom,
To see what was happening outside the classroom.

The sun on the crest of the new fallen pollen,
Gave the luster of mid-day to flowers below.
When what to my wondering eye should unveil
The Easter Bunny and his scruffy bunny tail.

With a little brown nose and eyes like buttons
He came bearing candy enough for a glutton.
The eggs filled with candy were hard to find,
I looked for so long surely I must be blind.

But alas as we took up our baskets to search,
Some eggs were hidden on a high lofty perch.
I climbed up to reach them but alas I did fall,
For just like the rabbit I wasn’t very tall.

So after I gave up and decided to quit,
The Easter bunny hopped over next to me to sit.
He placed a pastel egg in the palm of my hand,
And that’s when my heart fluttered feeling so grand.

It wasn’t about finding the tiny hidden treasure,
It wasn’t about getting candy beyond measure,
The real joy of springtime wasn’t any of these,
It was making a new friend in the cool spring breeze.
